Learn resuscitation through virtual reality!
VResuscitation is primarily developed for nursing students to enhance their understanding of resuscitation procedures. The game is based on the Current Care Guidelines for resuscitation (2021), which players must apply according to the given situation.
VResuscitation is a single-player game intended to be played under the guidance of an instructor. As the player's skills improve, they can also play the game independently. The instructor guiding the game should familiarize themselves with its content and flow prior to teaching. It is recommended for the instructor to play through the levels themselves and understand the game's logic.

Gameplay
In VResuscitation, players choose their desired level at the beginning—either the hospital or the elevator. Within the same space, players can review cardiac waveforms commonly encountered in resuscitation scenarios before starting the actual game. Once a level is chosen, players must follow the protocols presented in the Current Care Guidelines (2021) and apply their skills accordingly.
Actions performed in the game include airway management, rhythm analysis, defibrillation if necessary, chest compressions, rescue breaths, and medication administration. Decision-making skills play a significant role throughout the game.
Real-life resuscitation is conducted as a team effort, with different actions performed simultaneously. Since VResuscitation is a single-player game, it cannot fully replicate realistic team dynamics; instead, certain tasks are handled by a simulated team member. The player's role is to oversee the overall management and guide the resuscitation process.
Teaching Content
VResuscitation was developed in collaboration with nursing experts and Clever Simulation Entertainment. The accuracy of the game's content was also consulted with a medical expert during its development.
It is important to note that while playing the game, it does not provide a fully realistic resuscitation situation. Rather, it highlights the elements and decision-making process involved in resuscitation protocols. The game encourages players to contemplate the protocol's steps, make decisions to progress in the game, and save the patient.
VResuscitation monitors and records all the actions performed during the resuscitation process, and at the end of the game, the player receives a detailed summary of their actions.
Game Design
The game was designed for Meta Quest devices, so the graphics and other game play elements were designed so that the experience is optimized for these virtual reality devices.
Virtual reality functionalities were build over the Clever SE VR platform. so that most of the development processes was concentrated on generating the easily usable training environment that follows the rules of resuscitation process.
Special time stop mechanism was also developed, so the players could easily transfer into different roles while performing CPR. The testing for the game was mainly performed by the end users.
Future Development
VResuscitation has been created in English, allowing for potential future development on a broader scale. Possible future improvements include adding more game levels that feature various resuscitation scenarios.
There is also potential for creating a basic life support version of the game, focusing on chest compressions, rescue breaths, and the use of an AED device while excluding medication administration. The game can be further customized to better suit the needs of healthcare professionals.
