Kuha Sport Data Visualization

Transforming Data into Insight

The project aims at making sports and well-being data clear, accessible, and useful. Our visualization application combines data from multiple sources, providing an intuitive way to analyze and understand performance. Designed for athletes, coaches, and researchers, it helps turn complex information into practical insights

App functionality

The KUHA2 visualization application provides an efficient way to explore and analyze sports and well-being data. It gathers information from multiple sources and presents it in an intuitive format, helping users make sense of complex datasets.

The application allows users to view and compare different types of data, such as training metrics, competition results, and well-being indicators. Interactive tools make it easy to filter, adjust, and visualize information according to specific needs.

Built with flexibility in mind, the application supports future integration with real-time data sources, making it a valuable tool for researchers, coaches, and athletes looking to gain insights and improve decision-making.

Technical execution

The project was developed in cooperation with Jyväskylä University’s Vuokatti Sports Technology Unit (JYU-Vuokatti), CSC – IT Center for Science, and Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK). Each partner contributed to different aspects of the system’s development.

JYU-Vuokatti coordinated the project, defined data sources, and outlined the functional requirements for the visualization application. CSC built the data pool, ensuring secure data management and addressing privacy and integration requirements. KAMK developed the visualization application, focusing on making data more accessible and easier to interpret.

The project resulted in a working demonstration of the system, providing a basis for further development. The architecture allows for future improvements, including the addition of real-time data integration and expanded analytical tools.

Future development

The development of the KUHA project will continue with enhancements to the sports data pool and visualization application.

The application will be further integrated with CSC’s data pool to enable real-time data collection and analysis. The user interface will be refined to support new data sources and features, with usability improvements based on feedback from coaches, athletes, and researchers.

Additional features will include a different roles for users,  access system for improved security and a survey alert functionality to track athletes’ well-being more effectively. These updates aim to make the system a more effective tool for coaching, research, and performance monitoring.
