The experience has been designed to be very user-friendly and the game is controlled by gaze control. The main interface for selecting nightmares is the art piece itself, where the players can select different scenarios from the blanket and then experience their choice. As with most real dreams, the players can only observe what is happening during the nightmares without any control over the events, creating another layer of realism.

The content for these nightmares was designed based on the art piece itself and also on the background stories collected about the nightmare. The development team designed the entirety of the nightmare experience. The main development goal was to keep the general atmosphere of the nightmare as close to the original story as possible.

The nightmares visualized in the project were designed in cooperation with both the artist and Kajaani Art Museum. The development team helped design the main visual outlook for all the nightmare scenes. Individual nightmares were then developed as different levels in the game and gaze controlled game play mechanics, 3D-models, animations, environmental sounds and other features were developed based on the needs of the nightmare.
